I found a site to download itunes 7 so i unistalled 10 and installed 7. I alos found a page that said i needed os 3.1.3 which i purchased but couldn't install as my 1g and my computer werent speaking. I plugged in my 1g and no connection, including no charge connectionĪfter days of searching through apple and multiple emails from apple support all of which kept telling me to read the same articles i found a page in wikipedia (i know) with a compatability chart. I finally got that in and up and running and it had all my old content. while i was trying to install 10.1 i was also told to install the 64 bit installer. I wanted to download a tv show rental and i was told by apple (while the 1g was hooked up) that i neede to install the latest version of itunes. I have an older ipod touch 1g which is running 2.2.1 As for generation designation should it even be considered as a 7.Sorry i have not answered but christmas got in the way for a few days. I dont have that many ipods to test this so I do like some follow up for those who had both variants hardware and software for testing differences, ATA read speeds sound quality/display etc. they're mostly from the proper 7th gen/not 6.5 or so, but the thing is those 7th gen running the 2.0.4 firmware cannot upgrade to the 2.0.5 not those running the 2.0.5 firmware can downgrade to 2.0.4, is because there's another hardware revision(made "cheaper") and little(one) feature added.Īs for the feature of the 2.0.5 firmware is only have a toggle to disable the EU volume limitation, that does mean ipods with the 2.0.4 and designated to be sold in the EU had an overall lower volume, if the unit is sold/used outside of the EU there's no volume limiter thus should be indifferent from 2.0.5 ones with the limiter off. So somewhere I've heard some ipod classics actually had the 2.0.5 firmware, they are mostly from the late/post 2010 manufactured date.
